Mile High Hosts Statement on HB25-1247

Mile High Hosts (MHH) is actively monitoring HB25-1247, the Lodging Tax Expansion bill, as it moves through the legislative process. We understand that this bill would give counties the ability to propose lodging tax increases, with any changes ultimately requiring voter approval.

We have been in discussions with key stakeholders, including Airbnb, to better understand their position and the broader implications of this bill. Unlike some past legislative efforts, this proposal does not single out short-term rentals (STRs), as it applies to all lodging providers, including hotels. Given this distinction, some industry groups, including OTAs and REALTOR associations, have chosen to remain neutral.

At this time, MHH has not taken a formal stance on the bill but remains engaged in the conversation. We are committed to advocating for policies that ensure fairness, transparency, and sustainability for our hosting community. We will continue to assess the bill’s potential impact and keep our members informed as new information becomes available.

We encourage our members to stay engaged, review the bill details, and share their perspectives. As always, we will provide updates as the situation develops.
