The Colorado Legislature will hold a special session next week, Monday, Aug. 26 – Wednesday, Aug. 28. We anticipate a short-term rental proposal regarding property taxes being brought forward.
What Can You Do?
While we don’t yet have the specifics on the potential tax proposition, we encourage everyone to contact your policymakers immediately.
Contact your state representative and senator: Tell them your story, why STRs are vital to your livelihood, and the negative impacts an additional tax would have on you and your family.

What is a Special Session?
In Colorado, to call a special session, the Governor must issue a proclamation that states the purpose of why the legislature is to assemble. The Governor ordered this special session to specifically focus on property taxes in hopes of avoiding ballot measures in November. You can read more about that here >
What to Expect:
The special session will start Monday, Aug. 26. As bills are introduced and begin going through committees, we could see votes as early as Monday. The session is set to run through Wednesday, Aug. 28, but it could be extended beyond that date.
